In an interview on Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made headlines after linking Donald Trump’s public support of Shedeur Sanders to his recent NFL draft pick. Shedeur, the talented quarterback and son of NFL legend and college coach Deion Sanders, had been waiting to be selected in the draft when Trump made a bold post on his Truth Social platform.
Trump’s message questioned why NFL owners had not already picked Shedeur. He wrote, “What is wrong with NFL owners, are they stupid? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has phenomenal genes and is all set for greatness. He should be picked IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”
Shortly after that message went viral, Shedeur was finally selected in the NFL Draft. Press Secretary Leavitt smiled during the interview and said, “All I will say is the President put out a statement, and a few rounds later he was drafted. So, I think the facts speak for themselves.”
