Not many radio hosts can say they’ve been part of a Library of Congress project. Bioncé Foxx can. She was included in the Library’s Radio Preservation Task Force, and she counts it as her proudest career moment. Her path into radio started with a commercial: a station was looking for on-air talent, so she sent in a demo and got the job. She’s been on the air since 2001, working just about every shift but mostly middays, with hip-hop and gospel and inspirational music in her background. On the air, she’s energetic, informative, and entertaining, and she says being part of thousands of listeners’ lives every day leaves her feeling fulfilled.
Bioncé grew up in the Midwest, and off the air she’s all about travel, fashion, writing, concerts, and cultural events. She once sang professionally, and her first concert was Whitney Houston. Her playlist spans Babyface, Whitney, John Legend, Barry Manilow, and the Notorious B.I.G., and Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without U” never gets skipped. She gives back to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Salvation Army, children’s hospitals, homeless shelters, senior centers, and breast cancer awareness. Her favorite food? Dessert, of course.
