Veteran broadcaster Bryant Gumbel has reportedly been hospitalized following a medical emergency at his Manhattan residence.

According to TMZ, the 77-year-old former host of TODAY and Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel was seen leaving his apartment on a gurney at around 9 p.m. on Monday (October 20). As of Tuesday (October 21), Gumbel was reportedly still receiving treatment at a local hospital.

A family member told TMZ that Gumbel is "okay," but declined to share further details about his condition or what led to the medical emergency.

Gumbel is a four-time Emmy Award winner who made television history as the first Black co-host of TODAY in 1982. He later joined CBS and launched the critically acclaimed Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel on HBO in 1995, which ran for nearly three decades before concluding in December 2023.

Gumbel's medical emergency comes less than a year after the death of his older brother, Greg Gumbel, a beloved NFL and NCAA broadcaster. Greg Gumbel, 78, died in December 2024 after a battle with cancer.

No additional updates on Bryant Gumbel’s condition have been publicly released.
