Megan Thee Stallion's legal team has responded to recent claims from Tory Lanez's attorneys by pulling up receipts from the convicted artist's trial.
On Thursday, May 22, the Houston native's lawyers released a 31-slide presentation that aims to refute the new revelation made by Unite The People. In it, they presented the "overwhelming evidence" of Lanez's guilt. It begins by highlighting his text messages to Meg and the phone call Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, made to Kelsey Harris from jail hours after the shooting in July 2020, in which he appears to take responsibility for what happened that night.
"Despite Mr. Lanez being convicted at trial by overwhelming evidence (that included his own admission of his guilt), he and his team — flanked by any ignorant person they can find — have pushed whatever misleading narrative they can," Meg's attorney Alex Spiro said. "One by one, their misleading statements unravel and all that is left is the simple truth: he was convicted by overwhelming evidence, and those who seek to traumatize the victim of the crime should be called out as foolish bullies."
The lengthy roll of receipts comes a week after Tory Lanez's legal team held a press conference and announced testimony from Kelsey Harris' former bodyguard, Bradley James. Unite The People's lead consultant, Walter Roberts, told the press that James told them he overheard Harris say she shot Meg that night during phone conversations with her husband and others. James claimed he heard Harris confess to shooting Meg three times. Afterward, Lanez grabbed her arm and knocked the gun out of her hand, which made it go off two more times.
Meg's attorneys addressed Bradley James' story in their presentation. They included text messages from Harris that said, "Help, Tory shot Meg." They also rehashed the $1 million bribes Lanez tried to give both Harris and Megan that night. In addition, they also emphasized that James wasn't an eyewitness to the shooting, and never provided sworn testimony in court. They also point out that James had never previously admitted the claim publicly and didn't appear at the press conference to tell his side of the story.
Lanez is serving a 10-year sentence after he was convicted on all charges in 2022. The debate over Tory Lanez's conviction comes a week after Lanez was stabbed 14 times in prison. He was attacked by a fellow inmate who's currently serving a life sentence. Lanez was transported to a nearby hospital where he was placed on a breathing device until he could breathe on his own. According to his father Sonstar Peterson, Lanez has been transferred to another prison as part of the facility's protocol. Watch his interview with NewsNation below.
