Kanye West may have a new name soon.

On Tuesday (August 24), TMZ reported that the Yeezus rapper filed legal documents in Los Angeles to change his name from Kanye Omari West to simply "Ye." While he has adopted that nickname and gone by Ye for years, he wants to make it official.

If a judge grants the change, it appears that "Kanye West" may be no more. The celebrity gossip outlet reports that the name change will likely be approved as long as it's not designed to commit fraud or another crime.

According to Pitchfork, Kanye hasn't publicly addressed the name change. The outlet has reached out to his representatives for comment.

The name change is the newest task on Kanye's already long list of projects he is currently undertaking. He is preparing for his third Donda listening party, the follow-up album to 2019's Jesus Is King, on Thursday (August 26). He is also reportedly reproducing a replica of his childhood home in the center of Soldier Field in Chicago ahead of the event.

Kanye's previous listening parties were held in Atlanta, where it was reported that he was living inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The events have been a hit, with fans going wild for an elaborate "levitating" stunt.
