FREAKNIK: Coming Back to Atlanta

FreakNik is headed back to Atlanta this fall.

The three-day event will feature classic artists that will appeal to the fans old enough to remember some of the original FreakNik concerts of the ‘80s and ‘90s. The lineup includes Adina Howard, Project Pat, Lil Scrappy, Ray J, Pastor Troy, JT Money, Paul Wall, 95 South, DJ Unk, Field Mob, and 8Ball & MJG.

It all goes down October 8th through the 10th at Morris Brown College.

Some of the babies that were made at Freaknik are old enough to attend it these days.

BET AWARDS: Taraji P. Henson to Host

Taraji P. Henson will host this month's BET Awards.

Taraji said “this year’s show will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, and she is honored to be sharing the stage with so many powerful and prolific women in music and entertainment.

Queen Latifah will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Connie Orlando, a BET exec, says this year’s event will spotlight Black women. “Black women have been essential drivers of change throughout history, from the political sphere to the cultural tone.”

It all goes down next Sunday June 27th on BET.

Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine to open Los Angeles high school

Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine are joining forces on their next project: a high school in South Los Angeles. The two are backing a new school, Dre told the outlet. Iovine added that the facility is “nowhere near a music school,” but will put an emphasis on creativity and ingenuity.
