Alicia Keys and Khalid are living their best lives on their newest track.
The R&B singers linked up for an uplifting, self-affirming duet titled âSo Done.â The artists marked the release of their new song with a prom-themed music video which stars After Everything actress Sasha Lane playing a wallflower type who, as the party gets crashed by a motorcycle gang, whisks off with a biker chick by the visualâs ending.
The Ludwig Goransson-produced record hears Keys and Khalid render a harmonic melody about restoring control of oneâs destiny through self-affirmation â an anthemic godsend for the times if there ever were one â after losing themselves to the expectations of others.
â'Cause I'm so, so done/ Guardin' my tongue, holdin' me back/ I'm livin' the way that Iâ want/ 'Causeâ I'm so, soâ done/ Fighting myself, goin' through Hell/ I'm livin'â the way that I want,â the duo croon over a cool bass and electric guitar production.
âSo Doneâ is the latest offering to appear from Keys' forthcoming album, ALICIA, which will feature 15 new songs from the Grammy-winning artist. The song also follows previously-released singles "Perfect Way to Die," âShow Me Love," and âUnderdog.â
âIâm so excited to share âSo Doneâ with the world,â Keys said in a statement. âWe call it a trance! The energy is inescapable! Collaborating with Khalid on this one was very special. This song is about being done with changing yourself for the sake of others and letting go of anyone elseâs ideas of how your life should look.â
