R. Kelly Puts His Request To Travel Abroad For Shows On Hold

R. Kelly's legal woes continue as the disgraced R&B singer appeared in Chicago court on Friday (March 22) after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

As per Variety, attorney Steve Greenberg asked Judge Lawrence Flood to delay a ruling on a request for Kelly to travel to Dubai to perform a number of unconfirmed concerts in April. The singer's team is reportedly preparing contracts for the shows to provide to Judge Lawrence Flood with a more detailed itinerary. In case you hadn't heard, his legal team filed a motion on Wednesday to request that his passport, which was surrendered as part of his $1 million bail bond in February, be returned back to him for his travel purposes. While the matter was not discussed during his morning appearance, Judge Lawrence Flood agreed on the motion to continue and is expecting him to return back in court on May 7 at 9:45 AM local time.

Additionally, the brief hearing saw Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, formally ask for copies of the tapes that lawyer Michael Avenatti claimed to have that allegedly showed Kelly engaging in acts of sexual abuse with his clients. While Greenberg pleaded not guilty on the singer's behalf to all of the charges, all eyes will certainly be on him when cameras enter the courtroom during his trial and pretrial hearings. "Mr. Kelly wants this to be an open and transparent process," Kelly's attorney Steve Greenberg told the Associated Presst. "So far there have been rumors, there have been allegations … but with cameras in the courtroom, everyone will see what really happens."

Meanwhile, the saga of Joycelyn Savage, one of the reported victims of his sex cult, also continue as his team and her parents couldn't agree on a fixed location to meet up. It's important to note that R. Kelly cannot leave the state, so it was mandatory that the meet-up take place in Illinois. However, on late Friday afternoon, it was reported that the singer's team pulled the plug on the meeting, as per TMZ. No explanation for the cancellation was offered.
