Justin Timberlake Finally Addresses Janet Jackson Super Bowl Incident

Justin Timberlake has been the center of some controversy ever since it was announced that the pop titan would take center stage at the Super Bowl LII halftime show because of how everything panned out with Janet Jackson in 2004.

Just a few weeks ahead of the high-profile performance as well as his new album, Man of the Woods, JT took a trip down memory lane to revisit the scandal, which took place at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 and saw the singer rip off a layer of Janet's top to reveal a shield on her breast. It would eventually go on to be referred to simply as nipplegate.

"Naturally, that's something we talked about," the singer said of his post-performance discussions with Ms. Jackson. "To be honest, it wasn't too much of a conversation. It's just one of those things where you go, like, 'Yeah, what do you want me to say? We’re not going to do that again!'"

Timberlake went on to admit that he "stumbled through" the incident, which caused a major backlash for Jackson while JT managed to come out of everything unscathed. "I had my wires crossed, and it's just something that you have to look back on and go, like, 'OK, well, you know, you can't change what’s happened but you can move forward and learn from it,'" he continued.

As for whether or not JT and Janet have made up since the scandal, the pop star admitted they are on good terms. "Absolutely," he said. "And I don’t know that a lot of people know that. I don't think it's my job to do that because you value the relationships that you do have with people."
